In order to provide the most cost-effective pricing as we seek to ramp up to full production, we have begun accepting RFQ's from customers that have some flexibility in their required delivery dates. This will enable us to combine initial orders to obtain the best possible pricing for our customers on our initial production runs of gaskets through simple economy of scale.

Remember, PerfectSealEOS gaskets are available to simulate a range of desired bolt preload target stresses, from as low as 10ksi upwards to 100ksi, according to customer requests.

The PerfectSealEOS Constant Seating Stress Gasket
Leakage from gasketed flange joints in process piping systems not only results in product loss and increased maintenance requirements, but may also cause consequential damage to equipment and components, as well as affecting plant reliability and availability. Some industries estimate the aggregate cost impact of such leakage on their O&M budgets at more than $1 million dollars per year, per plant.

The revolutionary PerfectSealEOS constant seating stress gasket is designed to eliminate in-service leakage events, while greatly improving the ease and speed of installation. With the PerfectSealEOS gasket, leakage caused by creep relaxation, thermal cycles, or high system vibration, becomes a thing of the past. Due to its unique design features, with the PerfectSealEOS gasket anyone can obtain a ‘perfect seal’ every time!

Taking Advantage of Flange Rotation
When tightened, every flange exhibits a tendency to rotate about its axial centerline in response to the compressive load provided by the fasteners about its periphery. This phenomenon is referred to as flange rotation, and differs for each flange according to its size, material, and pressure class. The degree to which a given flange rotates is dependent upon the bolt preload, and can be predicted using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The PerfectSealEOS gasket takes advantage of this predictable phenomenon by providing a known point about which the flange face is initially caused to pivot. As the fasteners are further tightened, the flange rotates about this fixed point, compressing the filler material into a groove in the carrier ring in the process, until such time as the flange contacts a second contact point, having then fully captured the filler material within the groove. The relationship between the first and second contact points represents a degree of flange rotation corresponding to the desired bolt preload necessary to effectively seal the joint.

Controlling Gasket Seating Stress
The PerfectSealEOS gasket’s unique carrier ring groove design is the core of its success. By controlling the initial density of the sealing material and the groove dimensions, a relatively precise and predictable gasket seating stress can be achieved that is uniform across the entire width of the sealing area, not just at the outer circumference of the sealing material as with other gaskets. More importantly, the innovative carrier ring groove acts to fully capture the sealing material . Since the material is fully confined by the groove and flange face, no creep relaxation of the sealing material can occur in-service and, therefore, the gasket seating stress cannot

change. The graph (above right) compares the measured creep relaxation of the PerfectSealEOS gasket (red) against all other semi-metallic gaskets in the market. It shows that the measured change in bolt preload over a 24-hr period is less than 0.5%, while the very best semi-metallic gasket tested can creep more than 1%. The PerfectSealEOS gasket is more than 2X as effective as the best semi-metallic gasket on the market at maintaining target seating stress. Because creep relaxation is virtually eliminated, changes in bolt preload over time are limited to fastener relaxation or embedment.

Similarly, any additional system loads, such as from system pressurization or heat up, thermal cycling, or high vibration, are transmitted through the flange and carrier ring components and have no effect upon the sealing material. Simply put, when gasket seating stress does not change, leakage cannot occur!

 

Ease of Assembly
The PerfectSealEOS gasket is nearly foolproof to install, due to the external visual indicator that clearly shows when the flange has been tightened sufficiently to correctly compress the sealing material into the groove. By matching the relative degree of flange rotation at the outside of the flange to the carrier ring thickness at that point, there can be no doubt that the gasket is correctly tightened when the flanges contact the external portion of the carrier ring extending

slightly beyond the flange diameter. In addition, because the carrier ring provides a defined, hard compression stop external to the bolt circle, the flange cannot be overtightened. This means that when using the PerfectSealEOS gasket, it is no longer necessary to employ complicated bolt tightening sequences or time-consuming multiple assembly passes at increasing levels of tightness. Flange fasteners can therefore be tightened to their final tightness value in just one pass, and in a consecutive rotational sequence around the flange, without the need for calibrated tooling such as torque wrenches or hydraulic stud tensioners!

A Revolution in Fluid Sealing
The PerfectSealEOS gasket truly represents the single most significant innovation in gasket design for process piping since the introduction of the spiral-wound gasket in 1898. Not only does the PerfectSealEOS design lend itself to utilizing virtually any modern compressible sealing material, such as expanded graphite or PTFE, it promises to significantly expand the performance capabilities for these materials by protecting them from environmental or process-induced degradation. Finally, should maintenance requirements dictate the disassembly of a flange containing a PerfectSealEOS gasket, the carrier ring may be refurbished, refitted, and reused, thereby helping users reduce costs!
